Maintenance Technician I (1 of 3)

Description:
The Maintenance Technician I will be responsible for performing general maintenance tasks as required to maintain the Memphis Logistics Center facilities and operating systems in good working order. Primary responsibilities will be maintenance, repair and operation of batteries, battery chargers and battery changers for the fork lift fleet. This will include the following primary tasks: operate and maintain battery changers; maintain, test, water and repair batteries; maintain/repair chargers; change batteries; delivery/transfer of forklifts; keep areas and equipment clean (i.e. sweeping, policing, dusting, washing, refuse disposal); perform basic repairs (i.e. preventative conveyor, building maintenance). Other areas of responsibility will include records keeping, parts and supplies inventory, conveyor, package machine and facilities repair and maintenance.
The Maintenance Technician I will completes all other tasks/projects as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor/Management. Perform building and equipment maintenance and repair (i.e. painting, flooring, ceilings, cleaning, changing bulbs, minor electrical, minor plumbing, roof checks, minor HVAC/R). Repair and/or replacement of assigned safety hazards identified within Logistics Center. Ensure that new chemicals and equipment being brought onto site have been submitted for environmental review prior to use. Ensure that all bio and hazardous waste is stored and disposed of in accordance with local, state and federal laws and environmental procedures.  Actively participate in Logistics Center (LC) recycling program, Logistics Center safety program and as a member of the Logistics Center First Responder Team. This position will have a fixed shift, but business need overtime may be required to work other shifts (1st, 2nd or 3rd) and weekends as necessary. In addition, this role will be performed with a focus on safety and quality in a 24-hour, global logistics center. This individual may be placed on rotational call for all building maintenance and equipment issues and may be one of the first points of contact in the event of an emergency/alarm.

Qualifications:
A minimum of a High School diploma, GED or equivalent degree required. Technical school courses and/or previous factory training in forklift, conveyer or HVAC maintenance preferred. A minimum of 2 years of forklift, battery, general building and/or equipment maintenance experience preferred. Knowledge of maintenance programs for HVAC, fire and/or mechanical systems preferred.  Must be a certified Forklift Operator or be willing to become certified. Knowledge of maintenance systems preferred. Plumbing, electrical and/or mechanical experience preferred. Knowledge of power transmission and hydraulics preferred. Experience troubleshooting AC and DC electrical circuits preferred. Must have the ability to work with tools (i.e. hand tools, power tools, etc.).  Welding/brazing experience preferred. Must have the ability to follow policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and complete work tasks accurately and efficiently. Must have excellent verbal communication skills and demonstrated collaboration skills with team members and management. The ability to lift at least 50 pounds on a repetitive basis, stand and/or walk on concrete floors 90% of the time and bend, twist and perform repetitive tasks are required. The ability to work from heights (i.e. ladders, platforms, and lifts) and under low clearance equipment required. Must be able to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift. The ability to work occasional overtime and some holidays is required. Must be available for rotating on-call duties for any building maintenance, equipment issues and emergencies or alarms during off hours and weekends.
